This qualification has been designed for registered electricians who work in hazardous areas at a surface or underground extraction site.
The holder of this qualification is able to ensure electrical equipment and the hazardous area in which it is housed, is safe. The optional strand in Underground Extraction recognises additional skills and knowledge required to work safely at an underground extraction site as an electrician.
This qualification follows on from the
National Certificate in Extractive Industries - Mining Electrical Engineering Non-Hazardous Areas (Level 5) .
Prerequisite:
The National Certificate in Electrical Engineering - Electrician for Registration (Level 4) or demonstrate equivalent knowledge and skills and electrical registration. Overseas applicants are required to apply to the Electrical Workers Registration Board for electrical registration and a practising license prior to the award of this qualification.
