National Certificate in Extractive Industries – Supervision with strands in Surface Extraction and Underground Extraction

Level 5  Credits 207 or 211

This qualification is designed for an experienced supervisor at a surface extraction site or an underground extraction site.

Holders of this certificate are able to demonstrate knowledge and skills in reviewing and implementing plans, minimising environmental impacts, survey principles, regulatory requirements, designing and maintaining stockpiles, creating a safety management system, team leadership, and managing staff performance.

This qualification is part of a pathway that begins with the National Certificate in Extractive Industries - Introductory Skills. This continues with the National Certificate in Extractive Industries – Supervision (Level 4) and the National Diploma in Extractive Industries - Management.

This qualification can be completed at any stage within this pathway to meet individual and company needs.

Surface Extraction includes quarries, open cast coal and gold mines, lime mills, alluvial gold extraction, iron sands, and industrial minerals. Underground Extraction includes metalliferous and coal underground mines and tunnels.

Pre-requisite: National Certificate in Extractive Industries – Operations (Level 3)
