This qualification recognises the skills and knowledge of an experienced miner in a surface extraction site, a tunnel, an underground extraction site, or a construction worker, all of whom have shotfiring responsibilities.
Although this qualification is not part of a specific pathway, it is expected that holders will hold, or be working towards other qualifications in the extractives industries, such as the Operations and Supervision National Certificates in Extractive Industries and National Diploma Extractive Industries - Management.
