TThis qualification is designed for experienced senior multi-skilled miners/operators who work in the different sectors of the extractive industries as represented by the strands.
This qualification builds on the
National Certificates in Extractive Industries - Introductory Skills and
Operations (Level 3). It leads to the Nationals Certificate in Extractive Industries - Supervision (
Levels 4 &
5) and the
National Diploma in Extractive Industries – Management.
Surface Extraction includes quarries, open cast coal and gold mines, lime mills, alluvial gold extraction, iron sands, and industrial minerals.
Underground Extraction includes metalliferous and coal underground mines and tunnels.
Pre-requisite: National Certificates in Extractive Industries - Operations (Level 3). This can be completed alongside this qualification.
