National Certificate in Extractive Industries - Introductory Skills with strands in Surface Extraction and Underground Extraction

Level 2  Credits 44 or 46

This qualification is designed for an entry-level worker at a surface or underground extraction site.

This qualification is a foundation qualification for a pathway that comprises National Certificate in Extractive Industries - Operations (Level 3) and culminates in the National Diploma in Extractive Industries – Management.

Surface Extraction includes quarries, open cast coal and gold mines, lime mills, alluvial gold extraction, iron sands, and industrial minerals. Underground Extraction includes metalliferous and coal underground mines and tunnels.
