National Certificate in Extractive Industries - Mining Administration Surface Extraction B GradeLevel 5 Credits 80This is designed for B Grade Opencast Coal Mine Managers and B Grade Quarry Managers as part of the requirements for their statutory status. Holders of this certificate are able to demonstrate knowledge and skills in: safety plans for surface face and benching operations; constructing and maintaining access roads; maintaining working surfaces; conducting safety checks on equipment; dewatering, pump maintenance, cleaning settling ponds; minimising environmental impact at an extraction site; reviewing consent conditions; regulatory requirements; and incident reporting in the context of a surface extractives site. The optional standards have been included to provide the opportunity for candidates to complete the additional requirements for Certificates of Competence to be awarded in workplace situations where explosives are used. This National Certificate leads to, and is a prerequisite for award of, the National Certificate in Extractive Industries - Mining Administration Surface Extraction A Grade. Special Notes: The content of this national qualification is based on the requirements of the gazette notice relating to the mining administration regulations and Certificates of Competence. People who have completed the requirements of this qualification may be eligible to apply for a B Grade Opencast Coal Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competence or a B Grade Quarry Manager’s Certificate of Competence.
