Description
This course outlines the requirements of the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms (HSNO) Act 1996 and relevant regulations as they apply to an approved handler for mining and blasting. Participants have to demonstrate knowledge of safety and protection procedures for handling class 1 substances. The other component of this course entails; planning the location and construction of a magazine for explosives, demonstrating knowledge of the process of applying for test certificates and permits to build a magazine and store explosives and demonstrating knowledge of the process of loading and maintaining a magazine.
