National Certificate in Hazardous Waste - Processing and Disposal

This National Certificate recognises the skills and knowledge of people working in operations roles in the hazardous waste industry. The holder of this qualification is able to process and dispose of hazardous wastes.

This qualification follows on from the National Certificate in Solid Waste - Core Skills (Level 2) and the National Certificate in Hazardous Waste - Processing and Disposal (Level 3) and may lead to the National Diploma in Hazardous Waste - Processing and Disposal (Level 5).

It is recommended that prior to achievement of this qualification, candidates have demonstrated competence in safe processing and disposal of hazardous waste. This may be evidenced by achievement of the National Certificate in Hazardous Waste Processing and Disposal (Level 3), or demonstration of equivalent knowledge and skills.

Prerequisite: Hold a current Approved Handler Certificate for the substances in the workplace, or demonstrate equivalent knowledge and skills. Approved Handler Certificates are issued under the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms (Personnel Qualifications) Regulations 2001.
