The qualification recognises that the holder has knowledge and skills for safe and competent driving of light motor vehicles. Designed for people with a Class 1 driver licence, this qualification has a simple format, and focuses on the knowledge and skills required of a person driving a light motor vehicle.
This qualification does not permit the holder to drive a light motor vehicle on New Zealand roads. To drive a light motor vehicle legally the driver must be the holder of the appropriate current driver licence of the Class for the vehicle. Land Transport New Zealand (LTNZ) issues driver licences.
